This is batik fabric being hand colored in a factory near Kuala Lampur, Malaysia.  The cheaper fabric is dyed in large cauldrons while the more expensive fabrics are dyed by hand.  Batik is made by putting hot wax on fabric in distinctive patterns and adding colorful dyes to the fabric which is soaked up anywhere there isn't any wax.  Then the fabric is boiled to remove the wax.  This process is repeated with various colors until the final pattern is complete.  The hand colored piece being worked on here will take hundreds of hours and will be very expensive.
